Welcome back to Feats N’ Faults where we use our Tiered Point System to rank and record our favorite characters. If you want a rundown on how points are awarded, please check out the About page. Below is our Tier System for reference.
Happy 4th of July! In today’s feed, we are going to be talking about the agents that are behind the scenes that keep the MCU running smoothly. If it wasn’t for these guys the Avengers would not have even formed! Some of these SHIELD members even went on to become Avengers themselves. That’s right, we will be analyzing Nick Fury, Black Widow, Maria Hill, Hawkeye, Phil Coulson, and Talos. For those playing at home, go ahead and rank these guys from least to greatest, and let me know in the comments if you got any right!
Let’s Get Started!
In last place we have Agent Hill. She is a very capable agent who had a huge impact in the early days of the MCU. Playing a big role in the Invasion of New York and during the event of Captain America: Winter Soldier. Unfortunately, she started to disappear from the MCU after that. Her most recent appearance was in Secret Invasion. Her time on that show was a huge disservice to her characters. She gained no feats or faults, and there was no real reason for her to be on the show anyway. She still got a 10 FN’F Score, but I think she deserved better.
In 5th Place, we have agent Phil Coulson, who has a 14 FN’F score. This man was one of the early lynchpins of the entire MCU. He was always showing up and helped to make our world feel connected. His death is what finally brought the Avengers together. For those wondering, I did not include the show Agents of Shield in this score. After all my research, it seems like that is the one show that is not considered canon, so I did not include it in the MCU. However, maybe someday we will go through it and give it its own analysis.
In 4th Place with 18 FN’F Score we have Talos. This poor man. I do not know if any of you watched Secret Invasion. If you didn’t, I do not blame you. But if you did, this man is wronged all the time. Even our titular hero betrays this poor man. I wish him luck in the future of the MCU if he has one. He just wants to protect his people, but everyone seems to just want to use him. What a shame.
Now, we are starting to get to the big players in this universe. In 3rd Place we have Nick Fury. For a man with no real powers or enhanced skills, a FN’F Score of 36 is nothing to sneeze at. He created the Avengers and protected his agents, but man, he had a lot of faults. Unfortunately for him, he came out with negative points when it came to his own show. It just was not a good show, and he seemed to be determined to get as many Faults as he possibly could.
In 2nd Place we have Black Widow with 76 FN’F Score. What is there really to say about Natasha? She is a badass. She fought alongside people with superpowers and prevailed. She was even willing to sacrifice herself for the greater good. That is what makes a hero. Her movie was all right, and her other appearances were perfect. She works great in an ensemble movie. She might have been able to beat our 1st place winner in a fight, but she couldn’t beat him in FN’F Score.
In 1st Place we have Hawkeye. What a legend. He has been with us since the beginning and is still coming out with shows. Not just any show either. His show was one of the best the MCU has put out in a long time. The thing that is most impressive about him is he has zero faults. After all those years, he was able to keep his slate clean. That is a stand-up family man if I’ve ever seen one. Also, being able to score an 87 FN’F Score is amazing. He is beating out many characters from many different IPs with just a bow and arrow.
Reviews:
Review, Secret Invasion: 3/10
It is just a bad show. The acting is okay, but Samual L Jackson just seemed bored with it. He is always sitting, and he never does anything cool or clever. He does not seem like the Nick Fury that we know. He is washed up and dried out, and no one wants to see that. This is a story that is filled with twists in the comics. It is an amazing story, and they butchered it. It was just boring and bland. No real redeeming qualities.
Recommendation: No! Unless it shapeshifts to a new show
Review, Black Widow: 6/10
It was fun. There were some fun new characters and good action. I wish it had come out early in the MCU instead of being a flashback. It would have been cooler to see her get her own movie before Infinity War started. Still, I enjoyed it.
Recommendation: Yeah go for it if you like Black Widow. I’m not gonna stop yah, I’m not gonna beg yah to watch it either. You do You, why do you need my approval?
Review, Hawkeye: 7/10
It was a fun miniseries that went to a hero who really deserved it. It focused on Clint's more human aspects, helping us understand why he is needed on the Avengers while also letting us see the toll these adventures cause.
Recommendation: Yes! Especially during Christmas.
