Hocus Pocus isn't my favorite Halloween movie, it's enjoyable but there are others I'd rather watch. But, my wife is a big fan from watching it when she was younger. So we watch it every year.
I expected Dani to have a higher score, but this seems about right haha I love the first Hocus Pocus but maybe that's because I grew up watching it on Halloween. How would you rate the first movie on its own?
You're gonna hate me. I actually like the second one a little better than the first. However, I love cringy B movies so that might be why I like it a little more. I love a bad movie with a little charm.
I'm not a fan of the genius or savant archetypes. They are boring and lazy. I much prefer a character like Newt from Alien or even the kids from Stranger Things. They are out of their depth and scrambling but find a way to come out on top even when the world is telling them they can't. It makes for a great underdog. Seeing them struggle lets you relate and care about them more. Instead of them just being able to solve everything immediately. Write them scrappy with character flaws. They are kids they need some faults so they can learn as they grow up. That's the way of the world and it makes for a better story when you see that struggle.
Glad to see Binx in 2nd place. He deserves it.

I was rooting for that cat the entire movie. Just wait till next week. He started a trend for our Halloween specials!
