Feats N' Faults: Ben 10 Omniverse
Let's Go on an Adventure!
Welcome back to Feats N’ Faults, where our Tiered Point System ranks and records our favorite characters based on their achievements and deeds. Please check the About Page for a more in-depth look at how points are awarded. Our Tier System is below for quick reference. Spoiler Warning!
We’ve reached the final series for this Ben 10 continuity. Omniverse is my favorite of the series, but, for some reason, it gets a real bad wrap. The storytelling, the jokes, and the animation are all at their peak. However, it received significant backlash when it was announced. People got used to Ben being a bit dark and broody, but I always enjoyed the more colorful aspects, and I love seeing that being expressed in the art. Maybe one day we will get a series following Ben as an adult. If we do, I’ll be championing it like no one’s business.
That’s enough fanboying, let’s get to the business at hand. This is the last chance Ben has at scoring, and he’s been the closest to catching up to Doctor Who. Will he be able to close the gap, or are the universes apart from the good ol’ Doc and everyone else? Today, we are analyzing Gwendolyn, Max, Kevin, Ben 10,000, Rook, Zed, and Ben Tennyson. Who will this week’s champion be?
Let’s Get Started!
7th Place, Zed: 7 FN’F Score
Zed started out as Khyber’s hound, the original wearer of the Nemetrix. During this time, Zed was able to transform into the apex predator of whatever alien form Ben took. With this overpowered device, I expected Zed to be able to score more points in the beginning. However, it was not until he broke free from Khyber that he was able to do some good.
After his abandonment, he was adopted by Kevin and joined our Tennyson crew. In Kevin’s care, Zed became the bestest boy and saved Kevin on multiple occasions. Villains do not usually become good in this series, but Zed was a wonderful exception to that rule.
6th Place, Ben 10,000: 18 FN’F Score
Until the series is revived, Ben 10,000 is the only glimpse we have of Ben’s future. From these glimpses, we can piece together a couple more feats to add to the Ben 10 lineage. This dude becomes the president of Earth, talk about Doctor Who parallels. So far, the Doctor and Ben are the only ones who have been able to score that feat. However, since he does not have his own series, Ben 10,000 was only able to establish an extra 18 points to Ben’s overall score. Now, remember the Ben 10,000 we saw in the original series is not this version. They were on different timelines, and this is the verifiable original.
5th Place, Gwendolyn: 20 FN’F Score
Gwen and Kevin got a back seat in this series. This is evident by their scores. Both scored in the hundreds in the last series, but now Gwen was only able to add 20 to her legacy. I believe there were talks of spinning off a new show following her and Kevin, but, like the rest of the series, that fell through. Still, Gwen focused her time on improving herself and achieving her own goals, which she deserved after spending her entire high school career fighting for the earth. It is about time she focused on herself.
4th Place, Kevin Levin: 22 FN’F Score
Kevin is in the same boat as Gwen. However, he did get a story arc surrounding him, which explains why he was able to eke out a couple more points than Gwen. Kevin always wanted to be a Plumber, and now he is a Magister. Not too bad for some boy from the streets who robbed arcade machines.
3rd Place, Max: 32 FN’F Score
Max may be getting older, but he is by no means slowing down. He is in charge of the Plumbers for Earth’s sector. That is a lot of responsibility, but he proved why he holds that role. When the Incursians invaded Earth, the Tennysons were the only ones who were making a difference. Yet it was Max who brought it to a close. It was not through violence but through diplomacy. This kind of negotiation and for thought is not Ben’s strong suit, but if you are ever in need of a proper diplomat, Max is your man.
Max is no pushover, though. He can and does get his hands dirty. Max can arrest and bring down villains half his age with ease. He not only has the wisdom, but those cyber enhancements give him the brawn as well. The Earth could not wish for a better Magister.
2nd Place, Rook: 162 FN’F Score
When Ben officially joined the plumbers, his recklessness required him to have a partner. Since his cousin was away, Rook was tasked with being his partner. It was a rough transition, but these two eventually became inseparable, close friends, excellent partners. Rook balances Ben by bringing strategy and protocol to the equation.
Rook grew up on a farm on the far reaches of the galaxy. He dreamed of becoming a plumber and worked his way through the academy to achieve it. His reflexes and skills are unmatched, and while his species has no “powers,” he is able to arrest and take down iconic foes like Dr. Animo and Volcanis. I always wondered why Ben never scanned Rook to add his species to the Omnitrix, but then remembered that it is Rook’s practice and skill that make him formidable, not his species. Ben would not be able to maintain the level of combat that Rook can.
His multitool gives Rook another edge. It is capable of turning into whatever tool Rook seems to need. Grappling hook, gun, bow, sword, really anything that you would need in combat. With this, Rook broke the 100 barrier, which is very impressive for someone with only one series. To put this into perspective, Rook is on par with John Wick and even beats that action icon by 2 points. Seems pretty fitting company to have.
1st Place, Ben Tennyson: 716 FN’F Score
This version of Ben is a mix of his past two iterations. Sure, he is cocky and overconfident, but he has the skill and experience to back it up now. He’s also becoming the hero that he always wanted to be. Gaining the responsibility that he always seemed to run away from. Now Ben is not only able to kick alien butt but also negotiate on behalf of the Earth or planetary systems.
His control over the Omnitrix has allowed him to remove the time limit, gain new transformations, and give him the edge over any foe he may encounter. It is easy to see that he is beginning to pull his punches because his power level could wipe out the entire universe if he chose to. This version added another universal feat to the resume, and while his points did not meet the levels of ultimate alien, he still scored higher than any of our other combatants. Ben 10’s total score is going to be something incredible. We will add up their totals in a future Feats N’ Faults and show just how much this family accomplished. I’m not sure if he will be able to catch the Doctor, but it may be close. Don’t forget to subscribe to find out.
Thanks for tuning into another Feats n’ Faults. Ben 10 is going to rapidly change our leader board and is by far the greatest contender we have had to challenge the Doctor’s throne. If you have a suggestion for someone who could challenge their reign, let me know in the comments. I will see you all next Thursday! I hope you have a heroic week!
Until Next Time!
