Welcome back to Feats N’ Faults where we use our Tiered Point System to rank and record our favorite characters. If you want a rundown on how points are awarded, please check out the About page. Below is our Tier System for reference.
We have an exciting Tier List for today’s feed! We have finally finished all of Doctor Who. We will be ranking all of the Doctors to see how each iteration compare to the next. We will be looking at all 14 versions, the Fugitive, and The War Doctor. Go ahead and rank who you think scored the most! This is going to be fun!
Let’s Get Started!
The 16 Doctors:
In Last Place we have The Fugitive Doctor. She is a favorite of mine. I really liked the little bit we got to see from her. Her style is great, and I love the no nonsense tone that she had. She carries herself with the confidence that I think a good Doctor needs. I would have loved to have seen a full series with her. I do not know if we will ever see her in the future but if we don’t, it will be a shame. Until she has a chance to prove herself. She will be stuck at the bottom of this Doctor Tier list.
In 15th Place we have the 8th Doctor. This probably isn’t a surprise to anybody. He only appeared in one film and then briefly in the 13th Doctor’s finale. He is very prevalent in audio dramas and Big Finish productions. If we ever take a look at those, I know his score would drastically increase. Until then he is stuck at the bottom of this list.
I see that the bottom of this list has a trend. In 14th Place we have the 14th Doctor. Hey, how about that. Makes it easy to remember. Here we got another Doctor who does not have a ton of screen time. Only having three episodes this Doctor was still able to score 30 FN’F Score. I was skeptical of David Tennant’s return. When I first heard it, I thought it was a bit of a cop out and didn’t like the precedent that it set. I did not want Doctors regenerating into old actors. It just put a bad taste in my mouth. Then I watched the specials and heard the story. I really liked what they did with it. The themes of letting go and dealing with the trauma over the years. It felt like a nice bookend to the old era. It helps to give this new one a fresh start. I can’t wait to see Ncuti in the role. I think he will be fantastic.
In 13th Place we have the 9th Doctor. The northern bloke that restarted the entire series. Just like the others his tenure was a little short. He had one season in the role and helped to popularize the show. He wasn’t able to break into the 100’s but a 66 is still a decent score. However, compared to the other Doctors it’s pretty mediocre. You have to remember that the Doctor is a special character. To put it in perspective this incarnation scored better than Luke Skywalker or Ant-Man. That is the kind of company that he is in. Still pretty impressive overall.
In 12th Place we have the very 1st Doctor. I know that this Doctor has score more than this. The problem is he has so many missing episodes that it is hard to give him an accurate score. They do come out with animated versions of these old episodes and as more release I will update his score. Still breaking into the hundreds is a huge feat! The Doctor started out saving the earth and he is still doing it to this day. He is just usually a bit less grumpy than he used to be.
In 11th Place we have the War Doctor. This guy broke the mold. He was only in one special and made a hell of an impact. Saving the entire universe is a pretty good feat to get on your first adventure. I also just love his attire. It is like the 8th, 9th, and 10th doctor got all mixed up in a blender.
In 10th place we have the 6th Doctor. This guy really surprised me. I judged this guy hard before I watched his series. I knew he was one of the least liked Doctors and his outfit was terrible. I also knew that he only got two seasons and then was forced out. Upon actually watching his era I found that my preconceived notions were completely wrong! The 6th is one of if not my favorite Doctor of the classic era. I think he is brilliant and just so different than the Doctors before him. He was like a proto 12. Starting off really harsh and unlikable and slowly changing. Being able to find his own. I really do love Colin’s performance and think everyone should sit down and just give this version a chance.
