Welcome back to Feats N’ Faults, where we use our Tiered Point System to rank and record our favorite characters based on their achievements and deeds. For a more in depth look on how points are awarded, please check the About page. Below is our Tier System for quick reference.
The MCU is remembered for its heroes, but today, we are dipping our toes back into the swamp of villainy. We’ve reached part four, and our competitors have finally reached double digits! It is about time. I think many of these guys will make you ask, “Who is that? “or “They scored this high?” I bet most of you won’t even know who our first-place pick is. If you do, let me know in the comments.
Let's Get Started!
MCU: Villains 44th-35th
44th Place, Malekith: 14 FN’F Score (2013) 1 Movie
When it was announced that Christopher Eccleston, the 9th Doctor, would be in a Marvel movie, I was jumping for joy. Unfortunately, he was given a very forgettable role. The main reaction he gets now is, “Oh yeah, he was in that boring Thor movie.” I love the aesthetic and think the performance is good, but that’s the problem. Everything is just, ok. Even now, with his FN’F score. It's a waste of a great talent for a mediocre villain.
43rd Place, M.O.D.O.K: 15 FN’F Score (2015-2023) 2 Movies
We continue on to another disappointment, M.O.D.O.K. Where to even begin? M.O.D.O.K in the comics is a menace. This little gremlin that flies around and causes havoc wherever he goes. He is an intimidating presence that should be taken seriously.
Take a look at this panel. Is he a bit goofy? Yes, but that is used to make him creepy. He should have never been made to be the comic relief because that just focuses on his goofy proportions and takes away the fear that those same features could instill. Instead, we see his little butt and laugh. A floating head in the uncanny valley. I’m usually all for new adaptions of characters, but this was just a missed opportunity. The creators of Quantomania picked all the wrong aspects of the character. Ultimately, the MCU made him a lousy villain with a mediocre score.
42nd Place, Sandman: 15 FN’F Score (2007-2021) 2 Movies
Talk about perfect casting! I love this depiction of Sandman, and I think it will be a hard one to top. A sympathetic villain that can really pack a punch. One of the most impressive things is that during his time, he never scored a single fault. He escaped prison, beat Spider-Man, and, worst of all, killed Uncle Ben! He played a huge role in the Toby Spider-Man universe. He even came over and played around in the Sacred Timeline as well. Pretty impressive for a walking sandcastle.
41st Place, Shades: 16 FN’F Score (2016-2018) 26 ep.
Enter the Netflix villains. Shades is a gangster from the Luke Cage series made for Netflix. Recently, the Netflix series was added to the timeline and became an official MCU show. I absolutely love this decision since I love (most) of those shows. Shades is also an interesting character. Someone who just loves this life and the power that comes with it. He is pretty good at what he does, too. Well, until he is not. He does not kill a witness just because he didn’t feel like it? He even turns himself in! What villain does that? Shades did take down Luke Cage, which is not an easy thing to do and outscored a lot of other MCU villains. Is he forgettable in the grand scheme of things? Yes, but he did what he could with what he was given.
40th Place, Dormamu: 16 FN’F Score (2016) 1 Movie
Oh, Dormamu. The man whose name sounds like he’s scatting. What a powerful villain that was contained to his realm before he had a chance to really do any damage. He did kill Doctor Strange a bunch of times, but just not enough to free himself. If he had been allowed to flee his dimension, his powers would have allowed him to alter his score drastically. That good ol’ Doctor outsmarted him, though, and is trapped in his realm with a measly 16 FN’F Score to show for it.
39th Place, Gravik: 17 FN’F Score (2023) 6 ep.
Breaking into the 30s, we have the villain from the worst Marvel show, Gravik. Those who read the Shield Feats N’ Faults know I hate Secret Wars. It is currently the lowest reviewed anything on this feed. Gravik is just the walking embodiment of the wasted potential for the Super Skrull. He is a dumb villain who makes idiotic choices that cause his own downfall. Surprised to see him this high on the list. Shades is a much better villain, and he is literally just a guy in sunglasses. Think about that. Gravik is a shapeshifting alien who is fighting to try and make a better life for his refugee people. Yet Secret Wars fumbles it so hard that a pair of glasses is more compelling.
38th Place, Harold Meachum: 17 FN’F Score (2017) 13 ep.
Remember when I said I loved almost all the Netflix shows? Yeah, this is the one I don’t. I tried. I really did. You guys know my motto. I would rather like it because that just means there are more things in the world to like! However, it was just boring, and the villain was dumb. Just like with Gravik, Harold makes stupid decisions that put everything in jeopardy. He is intense, I will give him that, but besides that, he’s a moron. The only reason he is this high is because of the amount of screen time he got.
37th Place, Ghost: 17 FN’F Score (2018) 1 Movie
Ghost has a chance to really improve her score and move out of the villains category. The upcoming Thunderbolts movie will have her joining a motley crew of other villains and antiheroes. I am sure she will go up at least a little, but we will have to wait until the movie to find out how much. I had no expectations for the film, but as it gets closer and closer, I am getting pretty excited! Are you going to go see Thunderbolts?
36th Place, Aldrich Killian: 17 FN’F Score (2010) 1 Movie
Remember this guy? The guy from Iron Man 2 that was left on top of a building all night. He got our number two spot this week! For only having one movie, the guy gets around. Just look at his title card and see how many heroes he beat or captured. He even got the President! It's not too shabby for a guy buried in the middle of our MCU villains tier list.
35th Place, D’Spaeyre: 18 FN’F Score (2019) 7 ep.
I told you. Be honest; you have never seen this man in your life! If you have, then that means you watched the Cloak and Dagger Hulu show. Is it a part of the MCU? Not technically, but it is loosely connected to the Netflix shows, so I say it is a part of it by association. D’Spaeyre (yes, that is how you spell it) is a man who feeds off of people’s hopes. Draining them until they are depressed little piles of nothing. He does this to feed, almost like an energy vampire from “What We Do in the Shadows.” He enslaves some girls and feeds off of a help group, which is super evil. Eventually being found out by the dynamic duo of the show and being stopped. He was a great villain. Very intimidating, and they showcased his powers in a neat way. Putting him in a sort of mind sanctuary where he drains memories and hopes like listening to records in a record store. It's a fun visual that helped you understand exactly what his powers were doing.
He might be on the top of this week’s list, but he is nowhere near the top of the MCU villains as a whole. So don’t forget to subscribe to stay updated on all future Feats N’ Faults feeds.
Thanks again for tuning in! I hope you are as excited as I am to see how the MCU Villains leaderboard pans out! I will see you next Thursday with even more Feats N’ Faults. Until then, don’t forget to subscribe and tell a friend! We are getting really close to our next subscriber goal, and I have a surprise for all of you once we reach it!
Until Next Time!
I didn't even know Eccleston was Maliketh until I read this. Doctors really do have terrible luck with Marvel projects.
