Welcome back to Feats N’ Faults where we use our Tiered Point System to rank and record our favorite characters. If you want a rundown on how points are awarded, please check out the About page. Below is our Tier System for reference.
Today we are covering one of my favorite series, John Wick. You will notice that a couple of characters like Winston will be missing from this list. We will go over those characters when we do FN’F for the Continental series next week. For this feed, we will be taking a look at 12 characters. For the heroes, we have the Bowery King, Marcus, Sofia, Akira, Caine, Mr. Nobody, and John Wick. For the villains, we have Santino D’Antonio, Zero, The Marquis, Iosef Tarasov, and Vigo. For those of you playing at home go ahead and list from least to greatest how you think these guys did. Let me know in the comments if you got any of them right. Let’s get to it!
In last Place we have the Bowery King. I was shocked that he was this low. For someone who has this much presence, he did practically nothing. I guess you take what you can when you are fighting for screen time with John Wick.
In 6th place we have Marcus. I love Willem Dafoe. When I saw that he was in the first movie I was hoping he would have more screen time. Even though he didn’t, he was still vital in that first movie. His score seems low but for these movies, you are lucky to get any points you can. John Wick is a bit of a point hog.
In 5th we have Akira. Like Marcus, she was only in one movie. All of the following characters besides Mr. Wick have only been in one of these films. She was able to eke out 6 points.
in 4th we have Sofia. She was just as handy as John with a gun but the reason she was able to get to 4th place was her trusty attack dogs. With their help, she was able to just pass Akira. However, her dogs were not the best. Because another dog trainer beat her out by one point. If she did not abandon John in the desert maybe she could have earned herself enough points to move into the top 3.
In 3rd we have Mr. Nobody. Just like Sofia, his dog was one of the main reasons he scored so high. He saved John on multiple occasions and stayed in the shadows for most of his screen time. Joining John at the end and helping him reach his destination allowed him to just barely outscore Sofia.
In 2nd place we have Caine. He is the only one on this list who was able to beat Mr. Wick. Scoring 16 is a huge feat for this series. I just wish it was a big accomplishment for FN’F. In the grand scheme of things, it is a pretty low score. Which is a shame because Donnie Yen did a great job portraying the character. He was great and his action was fantastic, but even with all of his skills he couldn’t steal the limelight from John.
Woooo! The moment we have all been waiting for. Mr. John Wick outdid himself. coming in at 1st place with 160 points. Usually, we have characters that will save the planet or country but not John. He never scored higher than a group point but through sheer will and determination he worked his way up to 160 points. That is unheard of for any character in FN’F. He did so much damage to the world he was in. The thing that amazes me is that this was all done after he retired. I would love to see what he did to earn his reputation. Fantastic showing. He will be in our next top ten for sure.
Villains:
In last place we have Santino. This guy was just an idiot. He wanted his sister dead, but he did not have the balls to do it himself. So, he went and got John Wick out of retirement and blew up his house. Let me get this straight. He did not want to get his hands dirty. But then he went and got them dirty by making an enemy of John Wick? What a dumb dumb move. His score reflects the stupidity of his actions. a perfect 0 score. Pretty impressive.
In 4th we have our favorite douchebag Iosef. He started this whole thing off. We probably should be thanking the man. Stealing his car and killing his dog. I am surprised he was able to score any points. But hey, even idiots can score a point every now and then.
In 3rd we have the father Vigo. He tried his best. He knew from the start his son was dead. The only thing I have against the guy is he should have won. He had Wick captured and tied up. But in true villain fashion, he just walked away and let his guys shoot him? Wait no, he did not have them shoot him. He let them try to kill him with a bag! Why? You had him! You knew he was dangerous! Just shoot him or at the very least have your men shoot him. Don’t walk away for no reason and have them try to suffocate him. He was tied to a chair and you’re rich! You won’t miss that one bullet you would save. Plus, now your son is dead so was it worth it? Like father like son, 2 pts.
In 2nd we have the overconfident Marquis. Most of his points were scored by his underlings. I have no idea how he got his power. I’m guessing nepotism. A sharp suit and a good actor are not enough to win you this game. a measly 4 pts. Yet he’s still in second place.
In 1st we have Zero, how ironic. He was a fun enemy. A huge fanboy of John and yet tasked with killing him. His score just goes to show how hard it is to score against Wick. Being in first place with 7 points is shocking.
Review: 9/10 10/10
I think the first John Wick is a masterpiece. Its cinematography is on point, and I love the color pallet. The action scenes are second to none. The entire series is filled with cool shots and creative fight scenes. Keanu Reeves is the perfect person to put in this film. He has always had a weird cadence and tone in his acting. I think his performance, not just in his fight scenes, but with his one-liners is what makes these movies. I always find myself cheering after he finally speaks. The cheesy yet menacing tone just fits the movie so well. The first and fourth are perfect. The second and third I think get drowned down a little in the world building. I still love those movies but that is why it does not have a 10/10. It is hard to earn that score, but this series got so close to getting there. You know what, screw it, you got me. I love these films. 10/10. I’m changing it right now. Masterclass.
What do you think about the John Wick series? Did his score surprise you? What should we do next?
